Columbia Lake

Lake Profile
Lake: Columbia Lake
Type: Man-Made
Use: Powerboat
Acres: 281
Town(s): Columbia

This beautiful 281 acre fully recreational lake is located in Columbia CT. Summer fun includes power boating, water skiing, jet skiing, sailing, fishing, kayaking, etc! Columbia Lake is easily accessed and within 10-15 minutes of UConn, ECSU and Hartford. We have owned a home on this lake for a few years now and love spending our summers there.

Columbia Lake is one of the premier lakes in CT, owned and operated by the town of Columbia, the lake is carefully maintained and properties surrounding the lake have a significant premium attached to them. Unlike many large lakes, Columbia lake is private for the property owners in Columbia and there is no state boat launch.

Lake property owners feel that the advantage to not having a state boat launch is a quieter, peaceful lake. Even though power boats and jet skis are allowed, and there is a lot of fun to be had on the lake, the traffic is limited to direct lakefront property owners and other Columbia property owners. The lake is rarely over crowded and has a fun and yet private and serene atmosphere.

The town beach is beautifully maintained and access to the beach is obtained by purchasing season passes available through the First Selectman’s Office.

The beach season begins Memorial Day Weekend, and the beach does have lifeguards on duty during certain hours. Visit the Columbia Lake Beach website for beach hours, lifeguard hours, and fees.

Boating   Boat moorings at the town beach are available to residents only through a lottery system.
